Ophthalmology

The ophthalmology department specializes in the surgical treatment of a wide range of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, strabismus, and non-invasive surgeries for blocked tear ducts (dacryocystorhinostomy) to restore normal tear drainage. These surgeries are performed in a sterile environment, with recovery times varying based on the specific procedure.

Our team utilizes phacoemulsification (phaco), a modern technique for cataract surgery. This involves using ultrasound to break up the cloudy lens (cataract) into small fragments, which are then gently suctioned out of the eye. An artificial intraocular lens (IOL) is then implanted to restore vision. This minimally invasive procedure requires only a small incision, leading to faster recovery times and less discomfort compared to traditional methods.

Additionally, we offer refractive cataract surgery, which involves the implantation of specialized IOLs designed to correct refractive errors, such as astigmatism, nearsightedness, or farsightedness, while also treating the cataract. This approach can help reduce or eliminate the need for glasses after surgery, offering enhanced vision quality.
